This a ROM for the Samsung Captivate that I use everyday. Â It doesn’t have the carrier bloat and doesn’t have some of the Samsung bloat. Â I also don’t add any extra programs or capabilities besides:
- Root
- Custom Kernel (Voodoo) with EXT4 Lagfix
The only other changes are some status bar customization.  I am a fan of the Gingerbread look (partially).  I don’t really consider myself a ROM cooker, I just want to share this with the world because some of you may find this useful.
What I Did
- Merged the Rogers Official Froyo ROM (I896UXJL1) with DesignGears Cognition 2.3B8 ROM. Â Removed all the stuff I didn’t need.
- Added SuperCurio’s Captivate Voodoo Froyo Kernel w/ EXT4 Lagfix
- Skinned/customized the notification bar
- Removed Rogers’ bloat
- Replaced Rogers’ boot screen with AT&T boot screen, but removed the start up sound
- Added latest Google applications
Features
- Based Official Android 2.2 (Froyo) platform
- EXT4 Filesystem (/system, /data, /dbdata)
- Install Non-Market Android applications
- Mobile AP (free WiFi hotspot) support
- Free USB Tethering
- Adobe Flash 10.1
Acknowledgements
- DesignGears for providing a skeleton to make ROMs ie. the Cognition ROM series
- SuperCurio for the kernel
- AT&T & Samsung for not providing timely software updates. Â You inspire an entire community to do a better job than you. Â #Bitter lol
How to Install
Use Clockworkmod to flash the ROM. Â Detailed instructions are coming soon.
Download
Disclaimer: Â Download at your own risk. Â I do not assume any responsibility for any flashes that may go wrong. Â I am just providing this ROM as a service. Â I don’t expect any donations or reward for my efforts. Â I don’t really have time to provide a lot of support, but leave a comment if you have a question and I will do my best to answer. Â I hope you enjoy the ROM.
